Japanese facial massage
Release tension in your face and head and experience how a sense of calm becomes noticeable again.
Tension can build up unnoticed in the face, jaw, and head. The Japanese facial massage helps to release this tension through gentle, rhythmic movements and light pressure points. As you lie comfortably, the face softens and the head begins to settle.
The massage is performed using a natural Ayurvedic oil that nourishes the skin and supports the massage techniques. Many people experience a deeper sense of relaxation afterwards, along with a lighter, fresher feeling in the face and head.
Information
The Japanese facial massage is a gentle and attentive treatment for those who experience tension in the face, neck, or head, or who feel the need for a moment of rest and softening. Many people experience this massage not only as relaxation in the face, but also as a calming experience for the entire body.
What is a Japanese facial massage?
This facial massage is based on traditional Japanese massage techniques. During the treatment, I work with slow, rhythmic movements and light pressure points on the face. I also work along meridians that run through the face and are connected to other parts of the body, which can allow relaxation to be felt more deeply throughout the body.
For the massage, I use a carefully selected Ayurvedic oil. It feels pleasant on the skin and supports the massage techniques, contributing to a cared-for skin feel and a softening of the face.
When to choose a Japanese facial massage?
A Japanese facial massage is often chosen when you:
-
you feel tension in your face, jaw or forehead
-
you notice that you’re often in your head and need rest and relaxation
-
your face feels tired or tense, for example due to stress or a lot of screen time
-
you long for a moment where you don’t have to do anything and can fully receive
-
you need a quiet moment for yourself, without having to do anything
Many people experience the massage as a calm treatment where the head settles and the body can relax.
What can you expect?
You lie comfortably on the treatment table, fully clothed, with a blanket over you. We begin the session with a Palo Santo ritual and a botanical mist: a gentle moment to arrive and bring your attention inward.
The treatment takes place in a calm and quiet setting, allowing you to completely relax.
We begin with a massage of the shoulders and neck, helping to soften tension in those areas. This is followed by the facial massage, using gentle, rhythmic movements in combination with an Ayurvedic oil. I then work with light pressure points on the face, followed by a relaxing massage of the head.
During the treatment, you may notice your face softening, your breathing slowing down, and your thoughts moving more into the background. There is nothing you need to do: you can simply lie down and receive.
We close the session with soft sounds from the gong, chimes, and Koshi bells, after which an Ayurvedic nidra facial oil is applied to nourish the skin and gently bring the experience to a close.
Each experience is different. Sometimes you may feel warmth, tingling, or softening, and sometimes simply a deep sense of calm and relaxation. Everything is welcome as it comes.

Contraindications
A Japanese facial massage is a gentle and relaxing treatment. In some situations, it is important to take extra care.
It is best to avoid this treatment if you have a fever, flu, or another infectious illness, inflammation or active acne on the face (a few spots are not a problem), or if you have a herniated disc in the neck. This massage is also not recommended during pregnancy.
The treatment may be less suitable if you have open wounds, skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, or if you have recently had an injury or surgery to the face, neck, or shoulders. After cosmetic treatments such as Botox, fillers, or chemical peels, it is advisable to allow sufficient recovery time.
This treatment supports relaxation and wellbeing and does not replace medical care. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for you, or if you are currently undergoing psychiatric treatment or have a history of psychosis, it is best to consult your healthcare provider first.
More information about contraindications can be found here.
Book your facial massage
During the booking of your treatment, you can expand your session with an add-on from one of the other treatments I offer. Take a moment to feel what suits you best at that time. Please also review the contraindications beforehand to make sure it is suitable for you.
In May, the practice is mostly closed due to a holiday. From June onwards, you are warmly welcome again, and the practice will be open 6 days a week, with more availability to schedule a moment for yourself.

Confirmation
Your appointment is confirmed once you have received a confirmation email. Don’t see it in your inbox? Please check your spam folder as well. If you still haven’t received anything, feel free to contact me.
Clothing
During the Japanese facial massage, you can keep your clothes on, as long as your shoulders and neck are free. A top with thin straps or a strapless top works best.
Hair & make-up
Wearing make-up is no problem. Please keep in mind that removing make-up takes about five minutes of your treatment time. If you prefer to use the full time for the massage, it’s best to arrive with a clean face. Eye make-up can remain, although it may smudge slightly.
During the massage, I use oil, which may make your hair a bit oily. A mirror is available so you can freshen up your hair afterwards.
