Shiatsu facial massage

A gentle moment of rest for those seeking relaxation, slowing down and time for themselves.

Take a moment for yourself. A moment to slow down, let go of whatever is on your mind and simply receive.

This gentle facial massage is inspired by Japanese Shiatsu and focuses on pressure points, meridians and reflex zones in the face. The head, neck and shoulders are also included, creating a deeply relaxing experience.

Many people find the attention given to the head, face and shoulders especially enjoyable. These are areas where tension is often held without even noticing it. The calm Shiatsu pressure techniques and mindful touch invite you to relax and step away from the busyness of daily life for a while.

Information

The Shiatsu Facial Massage is inspired by Japanese Shiatsu. Within Shiatsu, pressure points, meridians and reflex zones are used. According to Eastern philosophy, these meridians form a network that connects the entire body. During the treatment, gentle pressure techniques are combined with rotating massage movements on the face. Attention is given not only to the face, but also to the head, neck and shoulders.

The massage is performed without oil, allowing you to continue with your day immediately afterwards without oily hair.

When to choose a Shiatsu facial massage?

This treatment may be a good choice if you:

  • are looking for rest and relaxation

  • often feel caught up in your thoughts

  • experience tension in the face, head, neck or shoulders

  • are curious about Eastern inspired massage techniques

  • would like to give yourself a moment of care and relaxation

What can you expect?

You will lie comfortably on the treatment table, fully clothed and covered with a blanket. We begin the session with a Palo Santo ritual and a botanical mist: a gentle moment to arrive, settle and bring your attention inward. The treatment takes place in peace and quiet, giving you the space to relax and turn your focus inward.

You will then receive the Shiatsu Facial Massage, where rotating massage movements are combined with pressure points, meridians and reflex zones in the face. The head is also massaged, while pressure point techniques are applied to the neck and shoulders. There is nothing you need to do: simply lie back, relax and receive.

The session is completed with the soft sounds of the gong, chimes and Koshi bells, allowing you to gently return and enjoy a moment of stillness before continuing with your day.

Why people choose this treatment?

  • Relaxing attention for the face, head, neck and shoulders

  • Inspired by Japanese Shiatsu

  • Working with pressure points, meridians and reflex zones

  • A moment where you can simply relax and receive

What Is the Difference Between the Japanese Facial Massage and the Shiatsu Facial Massage?

Both treatments focus on relaxation for the face, head, neck and shoulders. The Japanese Facial Massage is performed with Ayurvedic oil and combines massage techniques, pressure points and a relaxing head massage. The neck and shoulders are also extensively massaged. The Shiatsu Facial Massage is performed without oil and combines rotating facial massage movements with pressure points, meridians and reflex zones based on Japanese Shiatsu techniques. The head is also massaged, while pressure point techniques are applied to the neck and shoulders. If you enjoy a treatment with oil and an extensive neck and shoulder massage, the Japanese Facial Massage may be the better choice for you. If you prefer a treatment without oil with more focus on pressure points and meridians, the Shiatsu Facial Massage may be a wonderful option.

Contraindications

A Shiatsu Facial Massage is a gentle and relaxing treatment. However, in some situations it is important to take extra care. It is not recommended to receive this treatment if you have a fever, flu or another infectious illness, if you are taking antibiotics, or if your overall health is currently poor. This treatment is also not recommended during pregnancy or in cases of severe pain, extreme fatigue, thrombosis or inflammation of the veins.

In addition, I do not massage areas with infections, wounds, recent scars, swelling, bruising, varicose veins or fractures. If you have a skin condition, skin irritation or any other concern affecting the face, head, neck or shoulders, please contact me before booking your appointment.

Extra information

Confirmation

Your appointment is confirmed once you have received a confirmation email. Don’t see it in your inbox? Please check your spam folder as well. If you still haven’t received anything, feel free to contact me.

Clothing

During the Shiatsu Facial Massage, you can keep your clothes on. The treatment focuses on the face, head, neck and shoulders. A top with a wide neckline or thin straps is usually the most comfortable.

Hair & make-up

Wearing make-up is not a problem. Please keep in mind that removing make-up will take approximately five minutes of your treatment time. If you would like the full treatment time to be spent on the massage, please arrive with a clean face. Eye make-up may remain on, although it may smudge slightly during the treatment.

No oil is used during the Shiatsu Facial Massage. This means your hair will stay dry and you can continue with your day immediately afterwards.

Before the treatment, I kindly ask you to remove earrings, necklaces and other jewellery around the face and neck area. This allows all pressure point techniques and massage movements to be performed comfortably.
