Reiki
A gentle Japanese treatment for those seeking more calm, relaxation and time to reconnect with themselves.
Do you feel like your mind never stops? Do you find it difficult to truly relax, or notice tension building up in your body? Perhaps you long for a moment when nothing is expected of you.
Reiki is a Japanese treatment that uses gentle hands-on contact. In the warm and peaceful atmosphere of my practice, I invite you to slow down for a while. You don't have to do anything; for this moment, the focus is entirely on you.
On this page, you'll discover what Reiki is, when you might choose a treatment, and what a Reiki session at Mandy Treatments is like.
Why choose Reiki?
Life can be busy, and it isn't always easy to slow down. You may notice that your mind keeps racing, that your body holds on to tension, or that you simply long for a moment when nothing is expected of you. Sometimes, an hour in which you don't have to do anything is exactly what you need. Reiki offers that space. There's nothing to achieve, nothing to solve, and no need to talk unless you want to. Through gentle hands-on contact, silence, and a calm atmosphere, many people experience Reiki as an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life. For some, it brings a deep sense of relaxation. Others notice a quieter mind or simply enjoy taking a moment to reconnect with themselves. Every experience is personal, and every experience is completely okay.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle Japanese treatment that uses light hands-on contact. Its purpose is to create a peaceful moment in which both your body and mind can slow down and relax. Reiki originated in Japan and was developed by Mikao Usui in the early twentieth century. Today, it is practised around the world as a complementary relaxation and well-being practice.
During the treatment, I gently place my hands on different areas of your head and body. There is no massage and no firm pressure.
Everyone experiences Reiki differently. Some people notice warmth or tingling sensations, while others simply become aware of a calmer breath or a quieter mind. It's also perfectly possible not to notice much during the session itself and only realise afterwards that you feel more relaxed. There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.
When might Reiki be right for you?
You may enjoy a Reiki treatment if you:
-
often feel caught up in your thoughts and find it difficult to relax;
-
experience tension in your body;
-
feel overstimulated or overwhelmed;
-
would like a peaceful moment just for yourself;
-
long for greater calm and balance.
After a treatment, many clients tell me they feel more relaxed and experience greater calm in both their body and mind. Every session is unique, and your experience may be different each time.
What can you expect?
You'll lie comfortably on the treatment table, fully clothed and covered with a warm blanket.
We begin with a Palo Santo ritual and a botanical aromatic mist, creating a gentle moment to arrive, settle in, and bring your attention back to yourself. The Reiki treatment then begins. Using gentle hands-on contact, I work on different areas of your head and body. Most of the session takes place in silence, giving you the space to fully unwind. We finish with a short sound experience using carefully selected instruments, after which you'll have plenty of time to slowly return with a glass of water.
Why choose a Reiki treatment at Mandy Treatments?
Every Reiki treatment is given with care, attention, and time. From the moment you arrive, you're invited to leave the busyness of the day behind. The peaceful atmosphere, the opening ritual, the quiet treatment, and the gentle sounds at the end come together to create a deeply relaxing experience where, for a little while, all the attention is on you.
How Reiki became part of my journey
Reiki holds a special place in my heart. During a period when I wasn't feeling my best, Reiki came into my life. Throughout my Reiki training, I discovered how valuable a quiet moment of genuine attention can be. That experience inspired me to create the same peaceful space for others.
During my journey through Japan, I also visited Mount Kurama, a place closely connected to Mikao Usui within the Reiki tradition. Visiting this special mountain made my connection with Reiki even more meaningful. Looking back, Reiki marked the beginning of Mandy Treatments.

Extra information
Clothing
You can remain fully clothed during a Reiki treatment.
If you combine your Reiki treatment with a massage, it's helpful if your shoulders and neck are easily accessible. A camisole or strapless top works best for this.
Hair & Make-up (massage add-ons only)
You're welcome to wear make-up during your appointment. If you'd like to make the most of your massage time, I recommend arriving with a clean face. Eye make-up can stay on, although it may smudge slightly during the treatment.
Massage oil is used during the massage, so your hair may become a little oily. A mirror is available if you'd like to freshen up afterwards.
Booking confirmation
Your appointment is confirmed once you've received a confirmation email.
If you can't find it in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder as well. If you still haven't received anything after a little while, feel free to get in touch.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance.
